Culturally Relevant Education: Celebrating Black History & Heritage Through An Afrocentric Lens

July 21, 2024

Greetings,

Allow me to introduce myself: I am Cynthia "Chinue X" Cornelius, the CEO and Founder of The Chinue X Project Inc. (TCXPI). Our nonprofit organization, established in 2011, is dedicated to Afrocentric education.

Since 2009, I have actively engaged with Facebook, leveraging it to share my passion for education across more than 20 groups and pages, covering various TCXPI topics. One of my initiatives, “On This Day In TCXPI Black History,” celebrates the significant contributions made by people of African descent—an instruction that I did not receive during my formative years.

In September 2023, I embarked on a journey into Artificial Intelligence, exploring how to generate positive images of Black history from an Afrocentric perspective through art.

My platform serves as a hub for culturally relevant educational opportunities and resources. It aims to rectify the historical omissions and distortions perpetuated by Eurocentric hegemony. With a BA in Africana Studies (2008) and an MA in Equity and Social Justice (2013) in Education, both from SFSU, I am committed to empowering others through knowledge and awareness.

Thank you for joining me on this transformative journey!

ANKH, UDJA, SENEB
